Ironholt Vanguard
Ironholt Vanguard is the kind of tower defence that respects your intelligence. Instead of dropping the same three towers on a fixed path, you carve the path itself by raising walls and channels, which turns every map into a small logistics puzzle before a single enemy appears.
The standout mechanic is role-swapping: most towers can flip between two functions on a short cooldown, so a slow-frost tower becomes a burst-damage tower when a boss slips through. Learning when to flip is where the skill ceiling lives, and the later maps punish sloppy timing hard.
It's not a gentle introduction to the genre, but if you already love tower defence it'll eat your evenings. The one gripe is that the early tutorial undersells how flexible the system is, so give it a few maps before you judge it.
